Stephen Heiser is Counsel to Moses Richards Notaro & Tankha, LLP.  Stephen’s practice is primarily focused on complex commercial litigation, business and contract disputes, securities-related litigation, and governmental investigations.  He has extensive experience in all phases of civil litigation, and he has represented numerous companies and individuals in connection with grand jury investigations, SEC enforcement actions, and other matters brought by state and federal regulators. He has represented clients in a variety of other areas including transactional and corporate law, trusts and estates law, and employment law. 

Stephen’s notable representations include:

  • Representing a client in a multi-billion dollar international trust dispute with proceedings in the United States and Bermuda
  • Obtaining summary judgment dismissal of a lawsuit filed by one of the world’s largest presenters of live music and entertainment events against an international brand management company
  • Representing a multi-billion dollar hedge fund in a series of state and federal investigations and related litigations
  • Defending a country and its head of state in a breach of contract lawsuit filed in California
  • Representing the portfolio manager of a hedge fund in connection with an SEC enforcement action and related litigations
  • Obtaining a favorable settlement on behalf of a publicly traded gold mining company in litigation with a New York-based hedge fund
  • Representing one of the world’s largest internet domain name holding companies in a breach of fiduciary duty lawsuit filed in New York
  • In a leading New York case, obtaining dismissal of a breach of contract and fraud claim against a publicly traded investment bank, see Digital Broadcast Corp. v. Ladenburg, 63 A.D.3d 647 (1st Dep’t 2009)
  • Representing a hedge fund in a securities fraud lawsuit against several leading private equity firms and international telecommunications companies

Outside the office Stephen is a musician and songwriter, he enjoys outdoor sports including softball and biking, and he has attended games at 38 Major League Baseball stadiums (and counting), mostly with his late father William, and continuing with his son Richie.
